Not really much to post here, but thought I'd "check in."
I have been a tad stressed this semester keeping tabs on the job, clinical, classes, and assignments.
I learned a really good & hard lesson, however...
I went back to school in August of 2010. The first two semesters were GREAT. I got my calendar made up at the very beginning of the semester, like I always do. I did really well, and I mean REALLY well, at getting assignments done and turned in, sometimes as much as six to eight weeks early. I worked a variety of schedules, from very part-time, to not-so-very. Basically, I kept myself on a really even level and felt relatively stress-free. Summer semester was about the same, as I was only taking one class, which was a clinical rotation. I had some homework, but nothing stressful.
This semester was what I'd consider a scheduling failure, but I've lived to tell about it, thankfully!
I've felt very ready to be done with school. The problem is that this feeling started in early August - before the semester even started! Even though I was really excited about my classes (Community Health Nursing & Psychiatric/Mental-Health Nursing, and an awesome clinical rotation site), I could NOT get myself started early in the semester. Ugg - this is unusual for me! So basically, the whole semester, I've worked more on a "list theme" than a "what can we get turned in early this week?" basis. The "list theme" is basically "what is due next?"
November has sucked. I've turned assignments in on-time. But by mid-November last year, I was just about done and had many assignment-free weeks at the end of the semester!
So, lesson learned for my next educational adventure (MSN school at some future date yet to be determined), since my BSN adventure will be complete in less than two weeks: Get your stuff done as EARLY as you can! Procrastination is a MISadventure!
